Antimonial salts are cardiac depre ants and promote rapid excretion of waste products of the body; in large doses they produce vomiting and purging, with symptoms similar to those of cholera. They are valuable in inflammatory ailments of the respiratory organs, puerperal peritonitis and muscular rheumatism. A. chlorid., the "butter" of antimony; a strong caustic. Unof. A. Comp., Pil., Plummer's pills, contain calomel and antimony sulphur a tum, aa gr. . A. oxid., soluble in hydrochloric and tartaric acids. Dose gr. j-ij. A. oxy chlorid., the "powder of algaroth "; now little used. Unof. A. et Pota , tartras, (A. tartar a tum) (B. P.), tartrate of antimony and pota ium, "tartar emetic." Dose A. pulvis, powder of antimony, James' powder, consists of antimonious oxid 33, and calcium phosphate, 67 parts. A prompt diaphoretic. Dose grt'iij-viij. gr. In larger doses, emetic and cathartic. A. sulphid, black sulphid of antimony. Dose gr. A. sulphur a tum, the sulphid with a small but indefinite amount of the oxid. Dose gr. j-v. A. sulph. purificatum. Dose gr. Syr. Scillae Comp., Cox's hive mixture, hive syrup. Each contains gr. of tartar emetic. Dose Tt. A. tartar a to, Ung. (B. P.), one part of tartar emetic to five of simple ointment. A. vinum, wine of antimony, boiling water 60, tartar emetic 4, stronger white wine 1000 parts. A good expectorant. Dose
