(Pix liquid a, U- S. P., B. P.) contains a great variety of compounds, among which are pyroligneous acid, toluene, xylene, pseudo cum ene, cresol, phenol, guaiacol, creosol, paraffin, naphtalene, pyrocatechin, etc. It is employed in chronic bronchitis and in diseases of the urinary tract; externally in tinea capitis, psoriasis, chronic eczema, and other affections of the skin.
