JAMES ANTHONY, (frood,) an English e ayist and historian, B. in Devons hire in 1818, was educated at Oxford. In 1849 appeared from his pen that remarkblebook, The Nemesis of Faith. His reputation, however, chiefly rests on his History of England from the Fall of Wolsey to the Death of Elizabeth (10 vols., 1856-1870). [s. 388]
