W. of Chicago; is in an uncommonly rich grazing and dairying section; has an extensive trade in dairy products; is widely-noted for its manufacture of watches; and is the seat of the Illinois Northern Hospital for the Insane, Sherman Hospital, and Gail Borden Library. Pop. (1910) 25,976.
