Cadence

(kā'děnz.) [From L. cædo, I cut.] (Gram.) The fall of the voice; also the flow of verses or periods. -(Dancing.) Denoting when the steps follow the notes and measures of the music.-(Manege.) The measure or proportion observed by a horse in all its movements. -(Mil.) Uniform time and pace kept in marching. (Mus.) Apause or suspension at the end of an air, or at the termination of a proper chord.-(Her.)
