(1703-1758), born in Connecticut, was the most eminent metaphysician America has ever produced. In 1727 he was ordained pastor at North amp ton, Ma ., where he remained until 1750. From 1751 to1758 he preached to the Indians at Stock bridge. He was a most prolific writer upon religion and metaphysics, and in 1754 published his famous ‘‘ Inquiry into the Freedom of the Will.”
