(ad-he’ ’-zhun) [adhczrere, to stick to]. I. The attractive force between two di imilar bodies that are in contact. 2. Abnormal union of two surfaces as a result of inflammation, etc. A., Primary, called also Healing by First Intention and by Immediate Union, a method of healing of wounds by the production of lymph, followed by the vascularization and cicatrization of the exudate. A., Secondary, or Healing by Second Intention, or by Granulation, is that mode of healing attended by the production of pus and the formation of granulations. A., Plaster. See Emplastrum. 35
