(ad-he' -zhun). Abnormal union of two surfaces as a result of abrasion, inflammation, etc. A.. Primary, called also Healing by First Intention and by Immediate Union, a method of healing of wounds by the production of followed by the vascularization and cicatrization of the exudate. A., Secondary, or Heating by Second Intention, or by Granulation, is that mode of healing attended by the production of pus and the formation of granulations. A. Plaster. See Emplastrum .
