Adhesion

[Fr. adhésion.] ( Phys.) A term denoting the force with which different bodies remain attached to each other when brought into contact. It must not be confounded with cohesion, which is the force that unites the particles of a homogeneous body with each other. Thus, the particles which form a drop of water (Phren.) A propensity to form attachments, or to live together in society.
