Bahr-el-Ghazal

the name of the old Egyptian province which incloses the district watered by the southern tributaries of Bahr-el-Arab and Bahrol-Ghazal. It is said to be a good cotton-growing country, and abounds in timber. Slatin Pasha has drawn attention both to the fertility of the province and to its strategical importance.
