Sago

(sa'-go). The starchy fecula obtained from the pith of Sagus Uevis and several species of palms and cycads. It is an excellent food for invalids when completely softened by long boiling. S. Spleen, a spleen presenting on section the appearance of sago-grains, as a result of amyloid degeneration. The apparent grains represent the degenerated Malpighian bodies. S. -grain, a vesicular granulation of the eyelid, seen in granular ophthalmia.
