Halleck, Fitz-Greene

Ct., 1790-1867. A poet who was for many years a clerk in a New York banking-house, and subsequently confidential adviser to John Jacob Astor. His verse has grace and sweetne , but is wanting in positive qualities, and has already largely pa ed out of remembrance. Marco Bozzaris is his most famous poem.
