CONST AN TINE

Dictionary of Science, Literature and Art · 1842 · p. 2
An ancient order of knighthood, fabulously reported to have been instituted by Const an tine, but probably by the imperial house of Comnenus at Constantinople, and revived by the Emperor Charles V. The grand mastership of this order was resigned by the last representation to the house of Comnenus to that of Farnese, dukes of Parma; and now belongs to thecrowu of Naples. [s. 64]
