In Mythology, three sister deities, fabled by the Greeks to dwell near the Western Ocean. Their heads, which were twined with serpents instead of hair, had the power of turning all who beheld them to Btone; of which property Perseus made use after he had, by the help of Minerva, cut off the head of Medusa.
