Athetosis

(ath-et-o’-sis) [aBrjTOQ, unfixed; changeable]. A condition most frequently occurring in children, and characterized by continual slow change of position of the fingers and toes. It is usually due to a lesion of the brain. It is also called ” post-hemiplegic chorea,” from its occurrence after hemiplegia. A., Double Congenital. See Paraplegia, Infantile Spasmodic. 97
