The name given to the last book of the Pent a teuch. The term is composed of two Greek words, devrepos, second, and vo/toc, law; and is equivalent to the Mischna of the Hebrews, who thus design a led the book of Deuteronomy, from its containing a recapitulation of the laws and ordinances scattered over the other books of Moses.
