This title, while not new, was brought into general use by a luncheon in New York arranged in honor of Prince Henry of Pru ia when he visited the United States in 1902 and which was attended by men at the head of or who by their genius, means or otherwise were responsible, _in whole or in part, for the creation and development of important industries in the United States. John Pierpont Morgan, a leading financier, presided at the luncheon and the men who attended it were designated Captains of Industry.
