Canna

(kan' -ah). A genus of large leaved maranta ceo us plants. C. indica, has an acrid and stimulant root; it is alterative, diuretic and diaphoretic. Unof. The rhizome of C. speciosa affords canna-starch, or to us-les-mois, a good substitute for true arrow-root. C. Starch. See Tous-les-mois .
