(kan’-ah) \_navva, a cane]. A genus of large-leaved maranta ceo us plants. C. indica, has an acrid and stimulant root; it is alterative, diuretic, and diaphoretic. Unof. The rhizome of C. speciosa affords canna-starch, a substitute for arrow-root. 171
