Canna

(kan'na.) (Bot.) Agenus of plants, order Mar an taceæ, having brightly colored-yellow, red, or orange flowers in panicles. The foliage, too, is highly ornamental, and characteristic; hence, they are favorite plants in cultivation (Fig. 125). Some species are also of importance from their fleshy underground stems, containing an abundance of starch.
