Bergamot

a fruit tree, a variety or species of the genus citrus, variously cla ed with the orange, citrus au- Tantium, the lime, atrus limetta, or made a distinct species as citrus bergamia. It is probably of Eastern origin, though now grown in Southern Europe, and bears a pale yellow, pear shaped fruit with a fragrant and slightly acid pulp. Its e ential oil is in high esteem as a perfume. Bergamot is also a name given to a number of different pears.
