(er-e-the'mah.) [Gr., ruddine .] (Med.) A minor form of erysipelas, presenting the same tendency to diffusion and redne , but not so much swelling, and little disposition towards suppuration, or even vesication. E. is chiefly dangerous when it presents itself in a wandering shape, attended with slow, consuming fever. [s. 340]
