In maritime usage this term applies chiefly to the import and export of goods, expre ed in „ Home-trade ”, „ Foreign-trade" etc. A ve el is said to be in the Home-trade ”, when carrying goods to and from parts in the same country; those in the „ Foreign-trade ”, ships carrying out, and loading fresh cargoes from distant lands; „ Coasting trade”, when a ve el sails to and fro between harbours on the same coast.
