Five Mile Act

An Act pa ed in 1665, forbidding any clergyman who had not subscribed to the Act of Uniformity to teach, or to come within five miles of a borough or corporate town. A similar Act, known as the Mile Act, had been pa ed in Scotland three years earlier.
