fruit of Artocarpus incisa, tree growing in East Indies and Pacific islands; in size and shape like melon, contains white nutritious juice; cut in slices and roasted for food. Another species, A. integrifolia, fur- -nishes the Jack-fruit, eaten, also its roasted seeds, in Ceylon and S. India.
