[Richard Bright, Enghsh physician, 1789-1858.] A term of very indefinite limitations, meaning in general acute or chronic nephritis by some it is restricted to chronic nephritis, by others; it is employed to denote the more serious forms of nephritis, either acute or chronic, and by others again it is tised as synonym gus with disease of the kidneys, including amyloid degeneration and granular kidney.
