(Fr. glaner.) The practice of collecting corn left in a harvest field after the harvest has been carried, which (Levit. c. 19., Deut. c. 24.) appears by the Mosaic law to have been allowed to the poor. The right of the poor to glean is, however, not admitted in the English common law. [s. 530]
