Aloe

(al’-o) [alioy, the aloe]. The inspi ated juice of several species of aloe, of which the A. socotrina, A. barb a dens is, and A. capensis are most commonly used. Its aloin, properties are due to a glucosid, C17H1807. It is a tonic astringent, useful in amenorrhea, chronic constipation, and atonic dyspepsia. It is also an emmenagogue and anthelmintic.
