Pancreas

(pan'kre-as.) [From Gr. pan, all, and kr eas, flesh.] (Anat.) A flat glandular viscus of the abdomen: in animals it is called the sweetbread. It secretes a fluid resembling saliva, and pours it into the duodenum, to dilute the bile and render it more miscible with the food. Pancsova, (păn-cho'vah,) a fortified town of S.
