[English, ., ethyl; -ene ( Chem.) (q. v.).] Chem.: Asymmetrical hydrocarbon dyad radical. C2H4, each carbon atom having an unsaturated bond. It is isomeric with the unsymmetrical dyad radical ethyl i dene. It is sometimes called ethene, but that name should be only used for the hydro carbon, C2H4.
